Dragging the devil
When you were younger, did any of you ever hold on to your dad’s foot/ankle/leg and have him drag you all around? Like you’d hold on to him for dear life and just act like dead weight and have him drag you all across the living room floor and down the hallway. And the whole time you were being dragged around you were getting a rug burn on your knees? Or was that just me? It could have been, I know I am somewhat weird.
Anyways, if you haven’t experienced this firsthand can you at least picture it in your head? It’s fun when you’re the one who is being dragged around, but I’m not sure it is ever as much fun for the person who is doing the dragging. It becomes heavy and annoying and burdensome and maybe even just flat out hard. You’re carrying around all this extra weight and you are having to do it all by yourself. Maybe it’s even slowing you down and you’re getting frustrated because you have places to be, and you can’t get there. Maybe you have bad knees or weak ankles or a tight back and the act of carrying another being around your ankle is really beginning to hurt your physical body and you’re getting tired. Maybe it’s starting to take a toll on your mind because you had fun at first but now, you’re not and you don’t know how to say that to a small child that is laughing down by your feet. Whatever it may be, after a while we can agree it is no longer good for you in any way shape or form.
Well, I feel like this is what the devil does to us. When we start getting really close to what God has for us and we start to find our calling and begin down that path, the devil panics and jumps on our legs. He grabs us and holds on for dear life. You may be wondering why does the devil care what we do? He cares greatly because when we start doing what God has called us to do and start living the life God created us to do, we become so much more powerful than the devil, that he freaks out. He loses his mind and starts to use every trick up his sleeve to slow us down or drag us off course. You see when we are living in sin the devil is quiet and he leaves us alone. Why? Because we are no threat to him, and he doesn’t have anything to worry about. But…. as soon as you start to embrace your God-given identity and start using yourself to the fullest, you become one with God, and you become invincible. Or, well, at least that’s how I think of it. When you’re walking with God you have Him for your strength and Him as your shield. But that doesn’t always mean we are immune to having hard times while walking with God. It just means that we have somebody who will go through the hard times with us, and hold our head high, while we do.
Now, getting back on track because that is another thing, I could go on about. When you start to feel the devil grab onto you, it doesn’t mean that it is time to panic and freak out. It means that you can call on God and say that you need Him. You see if the devil doesn’t bother you when you are doing bad stuff then it is safe to say that he will bother you if you are doing something good, because now he sees you as a threat. So, if you feel the devil coming after you and he’s like a little kid who is holding onto your ankles and just not letting you go, and he is giving you all that he has got. Look down at him and let him know who you are in God and that you will not stop doing what God has called you to do. And now that you know the devil fears you, go after whatever you are doing, with all that you have because you are on the right track my friend. You know you are in the right place when you feel resistance from the enemy, but peace from God. Just keep walking forward my friend. Just keep dragging the devil’s knees across the ground and give him some awful rug burns, because you need to show him that he has nothing on you.
When you walk with God, he gives you the same power that is in Him. Imagine how strong God is. Now, imagine how strong you are because He has given you that same power. You can step on the devil’s head and tell him to let go of you in the name of Jesus and you will see him slither away like the no-good, rotten serpent that he is. You my friend, have the same power living inside of you that Jesus has. Yah, the very same power of healing people that Jesus had. The very same power of casting out demons that Jesus had. The very same power of raising the dead back to life just like Jesus had.
Life is hard. There is no doubt about that. But you know what else? There is also a spiritual war going on in this world that we live in. We live in a fallen world where bad stuff happens to good people. We live with stuff happening that shouldn’t be happening and people experiencing stuff they shouldn’t be experiencing. I know this firsthand. But I also know that each and every life in this world, is so insanely precious and important, that there is a war going on to try and win you over. This war is not always in the physical world where we can see it, but I can guarantee you that it is happening every second of every day. Every decision you make, every thought in your head, and every emotion you feel, is being torn in two different directions. I understand this isn’t something that is talked about very often and I know it is something that is considered weird or creepy. But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t real and isn’t happening. We will perish without God’s knowledge, and this is just me simply trying to bring awareness to this issue that we are all fighting, if you know it or not.
So, do you see it now? Do you see why the devil is so scared of you? Do you see why there is a spiritual war going on for every person’s life? EVERY…SINGLE…LIFE….EVERY…SINGLE…HEART…..EVERY…SINGLE…SOUL is so precious and so important because they have the power of Jesus Christ in them. And honestly that should scare the living daylights out everything out there. We are stronger together, and we must stay together and support and encourage one another so that we can be all that we were created to be and do all that we were created to do. Keep dragging the devil’s knees across the ground and show him that he has nothing on you and your God. You my friend are a child of the most-high God, and He loves you more than life itself! Now, go out and use that same power, my warriors! God is always with you, always for you, always behind you, and will always protect you!
With all my love,
Kaley
